U.S. Companies Will Find Help in Growing Export Sales at SUPERCOMM 2003

ARLINGTON, Va.--May 30, 2003--U.S. exporters will find great connections to U.S. government export assistance services at SUPERCOMM 2003 this year, show officials announce. SUPERCOMM, running June 1-5, 2003 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, will feature Commerce Department export education seminars, international buyer delegations, and a U.S. Export Pavilion - all U.S. government programs designed to help U.S. exporters at the show increase their international sales.

U.S. exports of telecommunications equipment grew steadily from 1996 to 2000, with Canada, Mexico, and Japan continuing as the top 3 markets. As the uptake of wireless technology takes off and international governments continue to privatize the sector, the outlook for U.S. telecommunications exports remains positive for 2003 and beyond.

At SUPERCOMM 2003, U.S. telecommunications companies will learn how to make the most of these international opportunities with the following programs:

U.S. Commercial Service Export Seminar - "How, When, Where"

-- On June 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., U.S. exporters can learn tips and techniques to breaking into new international markets at the U.S. Commercial Service Export Seminar. Telecommunications trade experts from Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Tokyo, Russia and Nigeria will provide overviews of the telecom markets in their countries. Trade experts from local U.S. Commercial Service offices will also help seminar attendees find new distributors and agents.

The International Buyer Program (IBP)

-- Also coordinated by the U.S. Commercial Service, the IBP has recruited qualified buyers from Ghana to Vietnam to attend SUPERCOMM. U.S. Embassy trade experts pre-screen and lead the buyer delegations and help match the buyers to SUPERCOMM's U.S. exporting exhibitors. SUPERCOMM is one of 32 U.S. trade shows in the IBP this year. Information about the IBP and each delegation can be found at the International Business Center in Halls C2/C3 Entrance.

U.S. Export Pavilion

-- SUPERCOMM 2003 also features the U.S. Export Pavilion in Booth 22715. The Pavilion's eight U.S. government agencies help exporters research new markets, find new international buyers, finance their exports and ship their products. Both first-time and experienced exporters interested in increasing international sales will find the information and help they need at Export Pavilion

For information about U.S. government export assistance programs and local Export Assistance Centers, visit the International Trade Portal at www.export.gov or call the Trade Information Center at 1-800-USA-TRADE (800-872-8723).

SUPERCOMM 2003 is being held June 1-5 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. For more information about the event, please visit www.supercomm2003.com.

SUPERCOMM, the premier annual communications and infrastructure exhibition and conference, is owned jointly by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), http://www.tiaonline.org, Arlington, Va. and the United States Telecom Association (USTA), http://www.usta.org, Washington, DC.
