Siemens Mobile Acceleration invests in French wireless start-up Realeyes 3D

Siemens Mobile Acceleration today announced its investment in the French start-up company Realeyes 3D S.A. which designs, develops and markets advanced image processing software products for mobile communication devices. Realeyes 3D products significantly enhance the functionality of camera-equipped devices, such as camera phones.

Realeyes3D develops a new technology that allows users to capture any sort of textual or graphical content with their camera phone. The captured content is being processed automatically and may be used within a large variety of mobile applications, such as messaging or imaging applications. The company has already designed a set of innovative applications for the quickly growing market of camera-equipped mobile phones.

Dr. Dietrich Ulmer, CEO of Siemens Mobile Acceleration, underlined: "Realeyes 3D technology enables a new, intuitive way of communication. Their applications are easy and fast to use and enable end-users to personalize their communication. The market entry of this company will be the next milestone in Siemens Mobile Acceleration's successful strategy in broadening the wireless market with new applications that bring clear benefits to the end users and increase the business for operators."

Realeyes3D was founded in September 2001 in Paris by Martin Lefébure, an expert within the fields of advanced mathematics and image processing. Since then, the team has been awarded various prizes, such as the ANVAR innovation price in France. After the now finalized investment round, the principal shareholders in Realeyes3D are Siemens Mobile Acceleration, T-Source, the telecommunications fund managed by I-Source Gestion, Partech International, and the management team.

"In addition to the significant boost that this funding will give us, Siemens Mobile Acceleration's broad wireless experience together with Siemens Mobile's worldwide recognition will considerably help increase Realeyes 3D's market acceptance," said Benoît Bergeret, CEO of Realeyes 3D S.A. "Siemens Mobile Acceleration has already demonstrated their ability to deliver to us very strong technical and business support, such as software integration support and the provision of key contacts within their network. Furthermore, we expect that the access to Siemens mobile sales channels will support our planned worldwide roll-out and allow a faster market penetration with our new products".

Realeyes 3D S.A. was founded in September 2001 in Paris (France). The company develops and markets advanced visual data recognition software and applications. Realeyes 3D has filed several patents protecting the concept and the underlying technology. For more information on Realeyes 3D please visit: http://www.realeyes3d.com.
