Vivato Wi-Fi Switch Goes the Distance in Georgia World Congress Center SAN FRANCISCO--June 2, 2003-- Atlanta's Premier Convention Center Tests Wireless Local Area Networking Switching System with Impressive Results Vivato, a wireless networking infrastructure company, announced today that it successfully completed trials of the Vivato 2.4GHz Indoor Wi-Fi Switch at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), one of the nation's top five largest convention centers with a total 1.4 million square feet of prime exhibit space in downtown Atlanta. Vivato's Wi-Fi Switch System is being evaluated by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, which operates the Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park, for expanding its wireless networks. The recommendation to trial Vivato came from DuraNet, Inc., a leading technology integration company based in Kennesaw, GA. DuraNet, Inc. and CCLD, the exclusive communications provider for the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, installed one Vivato 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Switch in the largest of the GWCC convention halls. The evaluations indicated that just two Vivato switches, mounted on opposite ends of the hall, would easily cover the 14-acre indoor space, while it would take about 10-14 conventional wireless access points (APs), plus cables and switches to cover the same area. The Vivato Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz Indoor Switch combines phased array antennas and sophisticated radio frequency technology in a flat panel that also includes built-in management, security and deployment tools. The GWCCA, like other large properties is responding to a growing demand for Wi-Fi connectivity in its facilities. They also face the challenges of providing Wi-Fi coverage to an extensive indoor area, serving potentially several thousand users and managing interference from the rogue APs that have become commonplace at trade shows. The Vivato switch is managed the same way as Ethernet management systems, integrating with existing Layer2/Layer 3 LAN management systems, including third-party WLAN access and security controllers.
