CompassCom Introduces 4.0 Versions of CompassTrac and CompassFDE Automatic Vehicle Location Products

CENTENNIAL, COLO., 11 June 2003 – CompassCom Inc. today released Version 4.0 of its CompassTracTM and CompassFDETM Automatic Vehicle Location products. CompassTrac is the mobile positioning and fleet tracking component of the CompassCom AVL system, and CompassFDETM is the universal location data server software.

CompassCom will introduce and demonstrate the new versions of CompassTrac and CompassFDE at the National Emergency Numbers Association (NENA) Annual Conference & Exhibition, which begins on Monday, June 16, in Denver.

CompassTrac displays mobile asset location and status on a digital map screen and can be integrated with any ESRI-formatted map data. Version 4.0 enhancements include improved CAD-integration options, two-way messaging, point-to-point routing, wireless connection management and CAD mapping support (plotting 911 calls, fires, requests for service, etc.).

CompassFDE is location data server software for tracking mobile assets including vehicles, aircraft, watercraft, handheld devices and almost any other wireless device. Enhanced functionality for CompassFDE includes support for 1XRTT and GPRS networks in addition to support for Nextel GPS Enabled phones and an improved API for third-party developers.

“Version 4.0 was designed for the end user and third party developer looking to add location based data to their application from multiple wireless sources,” says W. Brant Howard CompassCom President/CEO. “We enable the addition of location data into dispatch, emergency management centers and enterprise software solutions to help organizations make important decisions with real-time data.”

The Public Safety market—police, fire and EMS—will benefit significantly from Version 4.0’s enhancements, specifically the ability to map incidents on workstations as well as mobile computers in the field, allowing first responders to quickly navigate to and command incidents.

“The CompassCom suite of advanced mobile asset tracking software gives first responders and dispatchers the real-time data they need to effectively deal with incidents, large and small,” says J.D. Main, CompassCom Engineering Manager.

Attendees of the NENA Annual Conference & Exposition are invited to visit CompassCom in booth #839 for a demonstration of the new capabilities in CompassTrac, CompassFDE and the entire line of CompassCom AVL products.
