Xingtone Frees Consumers to Upload MP3 Files and Games to Mobile Phones
Enables Carrier Independent Business Models Send Games and MP3 files Directly to Mobile Phones
LOS ANGELES - June 12, 2003 - Xingtone (www.xingtone.com)
announced today another first for the wireless industry while launching a
new downloadable application that allows consumers to subscribe to a
service that uploads their favorite MP3s, images and game files to their
mobile telephones. Xingtone is providing a market-first business model
enabling independence from the mobile telephone carriers and the 'nickel
and dime' billing structure that has existed to date. For one low fee,
Xingtone's application delivers unlimited amounts of content any user
selects and uploads to their wireless phone.
The new application empowers consumers to fairly use their own content,
including both audio and mobile formatted games, on their wireless phone.
The service offers game developers, audio publishers, music labels, and
artists the opportunity to deliver content over wireless networks without
giving up 50% or more of their royalties to wireless carriers, as is
customary in today's market.
"In a free market system, consumers should be able to choose from various
pricing models, whether that be flat fee or ala carte," said Xingtone CEO
Brad Zutaut. "Xingtone has to exist as the alternative to maintain
competitive pricing among the wireless carriers. We hope that together
with consumers, we can demonstrate the desire and necessity for carrier
independence. We are encouraged by forward-thinking companies like Sprint
PCS that offer many unlimited mobile data plans thus enabling our
service."
Xingtone attracted immense notoriety and an enthusiastic community earlier
this year as the first company in North America to deliver a service that
replaces robotic ringtones with wildly popular MP3 files on mobile
telephones.
Xingtone developed a means to allow users to choose an audio clip that
they own, such as a recording of their voice, sound effect, or a clip of
one of their favorite songs, upload it through am audio trimmer and
deliver it to their phone. Once the clip is on the phone it can be
associated with specific callers, such as friend or family member, or used
as a generic ringtone.
Xingtone is using a flat fee model which allows an unlimited supply of
Xingtone services.
"If the wireless industry fails to provide a valued service, these
expensive wireless networks will have been for nothing. Consumer demand
will make certain that they are served or will insist on an alternative,"
continues Zutaut. "Consumers should never be afraid of running up their
bill by sending images and multimedia to their phone. Xingtone is here to
ensure they don't."
Current handsets that support Xingtone on the Sprint PCS network include
Samsung A500, Samsung N400, Sanyo 4900, Sanyo 5300, Sanyo 6400, Hitachi
P300, and LG 5350.
