The meeting is taking place on Tuesday, June 17, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Directions and additional information are available on the WCA website at www.wca.org.

"HP and Cometa are making great strides in the development of wireless-based technology and services," said Al Juodikis, President of the WCA. "The WCA is dedicated to providing a forum where information about the business and technology aspects of advanced wireless technology can be shared."

The first speaker at the meeting will be Andrew Bolwell. In his presentation entitled, “HP’s Mobile E-services Bazaar,” Andrew will present what HP is doing to catalyze the creation and implementation of mobile e-service solutions. He will discuss how HP is bringing together application developers, venture capitalists, and content providers with operators, service providers and enterprises to connect, network and collaborate on the development and deployment of new mobile solutions.

“The lines between our professional and personal lives are blurring; business is increasingly conducted ‘on the go,’ and we want to be able to access information and services no matter where we are,” said Andrew Bolwell, Global Leader of Hewlett Packard’s Mobile e-Services Bazaar. “My presentation will focus on how HP's Mobile E-services Bazaar is bringing together players from all over the mobile ecosystem to address this opportunity, and how companies providing mobility solutions can work with HP to help invent this new future.”

The second speaker will be Michael J. Kleeman. In his talk entitled, “Cometa’s Nationwide Wi-Fi Network,” Michael will discuss how Cometa is facilitating the deployment of a wholesale nationwide Wi-Fi network. He will review some of the technical and business challenges faced by the company as they become a wholesaler of wireless Internet access to telecommunications companies, ISP’s, cable operators, wireless carriers, large retail chains, hotels and universities.

“Wi-Fi continues to be the fastest growing wireless technology,” said Michael J. Kleeman, Chief Technology Officer of Cometa Networks. “Over the past few years, there have been many attempts to deploy public Wi-Fi hot-spots. In my presentation, I will demonstrate how Cometa’s technology and business model are both aligned for success.”

The public is invited to attend the meeting that will be held at Hewlett-Packard in the Oak Room Auditorium (Building 48S). A $10 donation will be collected at the door to defray expenses. Directions are available at the WCA website at www.wca.org.

About Last Month’s (May) Meeting

In last month’s meeting, Brent Lang from Vocera Communications gave a demonstration of their wearable instant-voice communications system for in-building mobile workers. The system consists of the Vocera server software, Vocera badges (wearable client devices) and any standard 802.11b wireless LAN infrastructure. The company is initially targeting customers in vertical markets such as retail and healthcare.

The second speaker was Patrick Lanthier from Mother Lode eXpress. Patrick presented the Mother Lode eXpress project as an example of the tremendous need and business opportunity to bring high-speed Internet access to rural communities in California, the United States and around the world. He discussed how wireless technologies are already being used to bridge this connectivity gap.
