QUALCOMM and Broadcom Announce Plan for Collaboration to Accelerate Bluetooth(TM) Adoption in CDMA Mobile Phones

- QUALCOMM Mobile Station Modems Combine With Broadcom RF to Provide Complete Bluetooth Solutions for 3G CDMA Devices -

SAN DIEGO, June 17 - QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, and Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), the leading provider of silicon solutions enabling broadband communications, today announced a non-binding agreement for a strategic collaboration to jointly develop, promote and market Bluetooth(TM) solutions for CDMA mobile phones. This collaboration, when finalized, will extend QUALCOMM's complete solution, by providing its customers with streamlined, fully tested Bluetooth integration for 3G CDMA wireless devices.

As part of the collaboration, QUALCOMM's leading-edge Mobile Station Modem (MSM(TM)) baseband solutions, which include fully integrated Bluetooth baseband technology, will be combined with Broadcom's short-range wireless RF products to provide a complete, fully tested Bluetooth solution for 3G CDMA devices. QUALCOMM's leadership as an enabler of 3G wireless networks and terminals uniquely positions it to drive integration of Bluetooth into digital wireless handsets and other high-speed data devices. Broadcom's short-range wireless RF technology leadership, broad line of Bluetooth RF products and proven expertise in deploying wireless networking technology in PCs, notebook computers and PDAs will further accelerate market adoption of Bluetooth.

"By working closely with Broadcom, we hope to expand the use of Bluetooth technologies on 3G wireless networks throughout the world. Bluetooth is invaluable in providing enterprise solutions, such as instant high-speed connectivity between handsets and laptops," said Sanjay Jha, president of QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. "We look forward to working with Broadcom to make Bluetooth widely used on CDMA2000 and WCDMA/UMTS networks worldwide."

"We anticipate that our collaboration with QUALCOMM will raise the bar on Bluetooth performance and ease of use in the mobile phone arena and accelerate the integration of Bluetooth into PCs and PDAs as well," said Alan "Lanny" Ross, president and chief executive officer of Broadcom. "We look forward to working with QUALCOMM to aggressively drive adoption of the technology, leveraging our Bluetooth integration experience to enable consumers to take full advantage of the convenience afforded by this exciting technology."

QUALCOMM is currently shipping in volume production integrated Bluetooth baseband technology on various 3G CDMA-enabled MSM5xxx and MSM6xxx family of chipset solutions. These highly integrated MSMs, when combined with Broadcom Bluetooth RF solutions such as the BCM2002 and follow-on devices, provide the best available system solution for Bluetooth in mobile devices. Broadcom's BCM2002 is shipping in production volumes.

Broadcom Corporation is the leading provider of highly integrated silicon solutions that enable broadband communications and networking of voice, video and data services. Using proprietary technologies and advanced design methodologies, Broadcom designs, develops and supplies complete system-on-a- chip solutions and related hardware and software applications for every major broadband communications market.
