ViewSonic V36 Utilizes Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Software for Pocket PC to Bring Consumers a Feature Packed PDA WALNUT, Calif.--June 23, 2003-- Newest Addition to Award-Winning Product Line Includes Digital Camera and Wireless Capabilities ViewSonic(R) Corp., a worldwide Visual Technologies(TM) leader, today announced its initial Windows Mobile 2003-based Pocket PC device, the V36. The product rounds out the company's Pocket PC offerings by bringing customers a premium level multimedia PDA product at an affordable price. The V36 uses Intel's XScale(TM) 300 MHz processor for quick performance and includes 32MB of ROM and 64MB of SDRAM (36.45 user accessible) to power its 3.5 inch full-color 320x240 resolution transflective screen. At approximately one-half an inch thick and a lightweight 4.8 ounces, the product extends ViewSonic's award-winning form factor. Also included with the product is a synchronization cable to support easy updates to users' PCs. At an estimated street price of $329, in addition to providing an unlimited PDA experience, the V36 also offers multimedia capabilities with an integrated 300K digital camera that allows users to take photos at resolutions up to 640x480. A removable lithium-ion battery allows for extended usage time through the option of "hot swapping" the power supply without turning off the unit. Wireless functionality is available through the purchase of ViewSonic's new 802.11b Secure Digital Input/Output (SDIO) card. Just larger than the size of an average thumbnail, the card weighs a mere .15 ounces and will add wireless functionality to the ViewSonic Pocket PC V36 and will sell for an MSRP of $129.
