Digit Wireless Develops Fastap Keypad for Inclusion by Intel in Their Cell

Digit Wireless' FastapT Technology Dramatically Improves Wireless Data Capabilities

Cambridge, Mass.- June 23, 2003- Interface innovator Digit Wireless, LLC today announced it is developing Fastap technology for inclusion in Intel® cell phone reference designs based on the Intel XScaleT technology. Commercial details of the arrangement are not being released.

By enhancing the mobile phone interface with a more "PC-like" user experience, Digit Wireless promotes the growth of mobile multimedia devices and services utilizing Intel's high-performance processors.

The Fastap keypad hardware and software provides direct-entry alphanumeric input, allowing mobile phone users to create text and multimedia messages quickly and intuitively. Users are able to select letters, numbers and basic punctuation with the press of a single button, instead of "triple-tapping" keys to enter text, as is the case on current phone keypads.

"Digit Wireless has rethought the current 12-key input method used on mobile devices and given the wireless industry a fresh approach to data entry," said Tony Sica, vice president of marketing for Intel's Wireless Communications and Computing Group. "The power and performance of Intel processors enable Digit Wireless to help drive market adoption of multimedia applications by providing its space-saving, easy-to-use interface to the leading manufacturers."

"Intel is demonstrating its advanced reference design support by adopting the Fastap technology for data input. Advanced value-added applications and services will be markedly easier to use -- providing greater adoption by consumers, operators and device makers worldwide," said Chris Hare, president of Digit Wireless. "Unleashing the full power of Intel through enhanced usability will deliver a compelling end-user experience."
