LinksPoint releases new enhanced version of its groundbreaking GlobalPoint GPS(tm)

--- High sensitivity-low power GPS receiver provides advanced location tracking for Symbol SPT1800, PPT2800 and PDT8100 ruggedized mobile computers ---

Norwalk, CT (June 25, 2003) - LinksPoint, the leader in Location Powered Solutions(tm), today announced the availability of its second generation of Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers for the Symbol Technologies SPT1800, PPT2800 and PDT8100 series ruggedized handheld computers. The new 12-channel GlobalPoint GPS receiver can be "snapped on" to the ruggedized handheld computers to provide GPS location data to software running on the device. GlobalPoint GPS receivers allow existing handheld computers to be used for location-oriented applications including field data collection, vehicle, personnel and asset tracking, navigation, field service management, proof of delivery, "location/time stamping" and numerous other applications.

The new GlobalPoint GPS receiver represents the second generation of LinksPoint's handheld GPS technology and features a number of enhancements over the original version that has been used by the FDNY at "Ground Zero" in the World Trade Center recovery efforts; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for field bioterrorism investigations; and by utilities and enterprises worldwide for data collection and field force tracking. Included among the industry-leading features of the GlobalPoint GPS are:

· Fast Satellite acquisition: Cold Start under 45 seconds; Hot Start under 8 seconds; Satellite re-acquisition in one tenth of a second. · Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and EGNOS support. · Signal acquisition using 1920 time/frequency search channels. · Hardware designed to improve Multipath-mitigation · Superior Urban Canyon/Canopy Performance. · Low Power Chipset provides greater battery life in the field. Low Power - High Sensitivity SiRF Chipset Architecture

The new GlobalPoint GPS receiver uses the SiRFstarIIe/LP chipset, from SiRF Technology, for high performance and low power consumption. This chipset is built around an internal satellite signal tracking engine that provides highly accurate GPS measurements and differential corrections. It also offers an acquisition accelerator, differential GPS processor and multipath mitigation hardware. This chip allows the GlobalPoint GPS receiver to deliver major advancements in GPS performance, accuracy, computing power and flexibility. In addition to high performance, the SiRFstarIIe/LP chipset also features Advanced TricklePower(tm) mode, which reduces power consumption to less than 150 milliwatts (mW) for continuous position update applications.

"The new generation of GlobalPoint GPS receiver for Symbol handhelds is the result of continuous innovation and the lessons learned in challenging use of the device under the toughest field conditions," said Scott Potter, LinksPoint's CTO. "The new receiver represents a leap forward in field GPS technology by giving longer battery life and greatly enhanced GPS performance for a wide range of mobile applications."
