Summus Selected as a Wireless Player to Watch

Independent market research report from IDC names Summus as one of the ``10 Emerging Wireless Players to Watch''

RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2003--Summus, Inc. (USA) (OTCBB: SUMU), a developer of applications and information processing tools that optimize the wireless multimedia experience, today announced that IDC has issued an independent market research report identifying Summus as one of the "10 Emerging Wireless Players to Watch." IDC is the world's leading provider of technology intelligence, industry analysis, market data, and strategic and tactical guidance to builders, providers, and users of information technology. IDC has a strong wireless research practice and has created this independent research report after spending many hours interviewing and researching wireless companies. The report was written by Scott Ellison, IDC program director, Wireless and Mobile Communications.

The study highlights 10 smaller companies that are helping to evolve the U.S. wireless market. IDC chose the companies in the report based on the increasing role they are playing in wireless content, multimedia, or voice market evolution. The companies are serving the needs of target markets by finding key market opportunities and are standing poised to play potentially larger roles in the wireless future.

The report mentions that Summus' market position in the U.S. appears to be quite strong, with numerous announced carrier relationships. A focus of the analysis of Summus is the BlueFuel(TM) platform, which is designed to create a new kind of operating environment to provide a wireless architecture optimized for both content providers and wireless end-users.

"Summus is pleased to be included in a study from IDC, a leading market research firm in the mobile and wireless industry," said Bjorn Jawerth, CEO of Summus. "We appreciate Mr. Ellison and IDC taking notice of all of the exciting progress we have made in the wireless space, and we are proud to have achieved this milestone."

BlueFuel is Summus' Superfast, Superthin(TM) platform tailored for efficient and easy interaction with information in the mobile environment. The BlueFuel platform enables service providers, content providers and handset manufacturers to create and deliver mobile applications quickly and on a wider range of devices and operating systems than competing solutions. The platform and architecture give developers the tools necessary to easily build applications for today's resource-constrained wireless environment while providing a superior user experience.
