Mforma Announces Availability of Wireless Version of Hit Video Game from Bethesda -- The Elder Scrolls Travels
KIRKLAND, Wash.--July 2, 2003--
State-of-the-art game now available to Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless subscribers
Mforma Group Inc., a leading global provider of mobile data solutions and premium entertainment content to wireless operators, announced today that The Elder Scrolls(R) Travels(TM) -- the wireless version of the award-winning Elder Scrolls series from Bethesda Softworks(R) -- is now available to subscribers of Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless. The game will also be launched on additional carrier networks in the U.S. and Europe very soon.
Bethesda is an award-winning developer and publisher of highly successful video games and has won numerous awards for its continued excellence in high quality game design. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind(R) game garnered more than 60 awards, including "Game Of The Year" and "RPG (role-playing game) Of The Year" for the PC and Xbox, as well as "Xbox Game Of The Year". Mforma and Vir2L Studios, Bethesda's wireless sister company, are co-publishing the new wireless chapters of this award winning RPG series, and Mforma is the exclusive worldwide distributor for the game.
"We are committed to providing wireless operators and their customers with the very best mobile content and The Elder Scrolls Travels: Stormhold game is one of the very best," said Christophe Watkins, vice president of content and media for Mforma. "Elder Scrolls has been translated so well to wireless by Bethesda and Vir2L -- wireless users will be amazed at the great gaming experience."
"Mforma has a very powerful worldwide distribution network and The Elder Scrolls Travels will now be available to millions of wireless users around the world," said Douglas Frederick, president of Vir2L Studios. "The Elder Scrolls franchise has sold millions of copies worldwide and the fastest way for us to get this new wireless Elder Scrolls game to the wireless market was through Mforma's excellent distribution network on more than 50 wireless carriers."
Thus far, two Elder Scrolls Travels games have been developed for wireless use. Stormhold is available now, and Dawnstar will be available in 6-8 weeks. Both of these are first-person, role-playing games. In Stormhold, misfortune has landed you in the prison of the lunatic warden Quintus Varus and you are not expected to survive long. You must find the few who can help you overcome challenges and defeat the evil warden. In Dawnstar, a forbidding ice world, Governor Vinticae sends you in search of his four champions, one of whom is probably a traitor. You must survive the rigors of Dawnstar and gain power to defeat enemies.
The Elder Scrolls Travels can be played on all major J2ME and BREW-enabled wireless handsets. Cingular users can access the game at www.cingular.com/games, and AT&T Wireless users can access the game at www.mmodemag.com/gameroom/main.asp.
