KDDI Conducts Survey on Video-capable Cellphones
Tokyo - KDDI surveyed 400 users of cellphones with
video capability between June 9 and 11. Fifty men and 50 women each in
their 10's, 20's, 30's, and 40's were asked questions.
When asked the reason why they bought a video-capable cellphone, 40.3%
said they chose the latest model, followed by those who answered that they
wanted to send and receive video (35.8%). When asked what they take a
video of, 39.0% answered family, followed by friends (29.0%).
In multiple choice answers, 60.0% said they use the video capability as a
means of communications; 59.8% want to show video to their friends; 42.8%
want to record something their interested in.
Half of the pollees said they use video mail two or three times a week;
33.0% two or three times a month; 10.0% everyday.
Of the respondents, 33.0% think video mail conveys messages more easily
than simple text mail; 32.8% appreciate video mail more than text mail;
17.0% feel closer to the video mail sender. However, 12.7% complain that
it takes longer to send video mail than text mail.
