Ekahau Announces the Release of Ekahau Positioning Engine 2.1

Ekahau Positioning Engine(tm)2.1 promotes a new YAX(tm) protocol for application developers

Saratoga, CA, July 3, 2003 - Ekahau, Inc. today announced a new 2.1 version of Ekahau Positioning Engine software (EPE) for Wi-Fi networks. The new EPE 2.1 provides the positioning accuracy of up to 3.5 ft in pinpointing the location of wireless PDAs, laptops, Tablet PC´s and other 802.11 enabled devices. The 2.1 version includes a faster location calculation with increased reliability, and also promotes a new Ekahau Yax(tm) location protocol for application developers and OEM-partners, to easily query mobile Wi-Fi device location coordinates from any application.

The new features of the EPE 2.1 are emphasizing strongly the improved speed, accuracy and reliability of location calculation in industry grade applications in environments such as retail, healthcare, warehousing, and manufacturing. The new Yax Protocol was designed to simplify and speed up the implementation of new location-based applications. Says Mr. Lare Lekman, CTO, Ekahau: "Ekahau's new TCP based Yax Protocol supports any platforms or programming languages, and therefore makes the Ekahau technology available and easy to implement for any application developer or OEM-partner." Yax protocol also provides multiple new features for LBS application developers, such as retrieval of the logical area boundaries from the Positioning Engine, and the indication of the expected positioning error of the provided location estimate.

Ekahau's patented location finding technology is a software-only solution and, unlike other competing technologies, does not require any proprietary hardware beyond a standard 802.11 network. It provides industry-leading accuracy and features for location-based information and location-based applications. Ekahau's cost effective positioning solution is utilized in retail, healthcare, warehouses, distribution logistics, museums and public events.

EPE 2.1 will be available July 1st, 2003, with pricing starting at $1995.00. A free evaluation version of EPE 2.1 and detailed description of new features are available at www.ekahau.com.
