StreamLync Installation Utility Takes Top Honors; ZLauncher in Second Place
NASHVILLE, TN(July 3, 2003)PalmGear (www.palmgear.com), the world's largest
and longest running Palm OS-based consumer marketspace, announced today
that its free StreamLync installation utility and ZZTECH's ZLauncher
shareware application launcher were the two most frequently downloaded
titles on the PalmGear site during the month of June.
The top 10 list also included the FlyZip XR and FlyZip ZR
compression/decompression utilities; the AeroPlayer enhancement for playing
MP3 files on select Palm OS handhelds; the DataKeeper personal database
utility; the HandyShopper shopping list utility; the Fire Viewer Suite
graphics program; the HandChess II freeware chess game; and the NoviiRemote
universal remote control software.
"What is striking about this list is the longevity of some of these
products and the way they reflect how the definition of a personal
organizer continues to evolve," said Ryan Wuerch, president and chief
executive officer of PalmGear.com. "Fire Viewer Suite has been one of the
top performers on the PalmGear site since 1997 because it offers essential
graphic functionality, while AeroPlayer has been a hit since it debuted on
the site last November because it allows a handheld to double as an MP3
player. This shows a healthy maturation of the handheld market in general
and the Palm OS platform in particular."
The top 10 applications on the PalmGear site in June were:
· PalmGear's StreamLync , a free one-touch installation utility
available exclusively to PalmGear customers that eliminates up to 13 steps
typically involved in downloading, extracting and inserting Palm OS software.
· ZZTECH's ZLauncher, a system management program integrating the
system supervisor, application/database manager and expansion card manager.
· Datoru Drosibas Tehnologijas' FlyZip XR, a compressing and
decompressing utility that doubles the amount of information stored on Palm
OS handhelds without modifying the hardware.
· Aerodrome Software's AeroPlayer, an enhancement that turns a
Tungsten T, Tungsten C or Zire 71 into a portable MP3 audio player.
· Ants Technologies' DataKeeper, a database utility that maintains
personal information such as passwords, credit cards, bank information,
birthdays, flights, hotels and URLs in a single location.
· Datoru Drosibas Tehnologijas' FlyZip ZR, a special version of the
compressing and decompressing utility designed specifically for Palm Zire
and other devices with 2Mb memory only.
· HandyShopper, a freeware shopping list utility that can also be
used for other kinds of lists such as packing and auto maintenance.
· Firepad's Fire Viewer Suite, a perennial favorite Palm OS graphics
program that allows large images, web pages and even video to be displayed
in 16-bit color.
· HandChess II, a freeware chess game.
· NoviiMedia's NoviiRemote, a universal remote control for TV,
cable/satellite, DVD/CD, VCR and other home entertainment equipment.
PalmGear.com offers a catalog of more than 18,000 software applications for
Palm-based handhelds that makes it the largest Palm OS application
directory in the world, with a "try before you buy" policy that enables
shoppers to download any title for a trial period.
