North America's Leading Taxi Company Ties Knot with Digital Dispatch Systems
Richmond, BC, July 21, 2003 - Digital Dispatch Systems Inc. of Richmond, British Columbia, announced today that it has signed an agreement with LA Taxi Co-Operative, Inc. of Los Angeles, California, part of one of the largest taxi co-operatives in the western United States. Under this agreement, valued at over $3 million including an extended service agreement, LA Taxi Co-Op is to purchase the complete TaxiTrack software package and 800 MC1790 mobile data terminals.
LA Taxi Co-Op and its affiliated companies are the pioneers in adapting the most advanced taxi dispatch systems, and introduced many new concepts and technology to the industry dating back to the early 1980s. Mitch Rouse of LA Taxi Co-Op is an acknowledged leader in the North American taxi industry as well as the airport shuttle industry, and is also the Chairman of SuperShuttle International Inc.
"We feel that these devices and dispatch system will provide LA Taxi Co-Op with the advanced operational features and enhanced customer service that will allow them to maintain their leadership position," said Ed Sadowski, Vice President of Sales for Digital Dispatch. This is Digital Dispatch's largest MC1790 mobile data terminal installation in North America. "We are very pleased with LA Taxi's decision to purchase Digital Dispatch's MC1790, our newest, most advanced mobile computer, and TaxiTrack, the industry's most feature rich dispatch system," Mr. Sadowski added.
"Digital Dispatch is the only vendor in the market with solutions to meet our complex needs," said Mr. Rouse. "The system will provide us with greater operational flexibility and help us be more cost-efficient. This will allow us to provide even better customer service and give us a greater competitive edge," he added.
One of the needs of LA Taxi Co-Op is to have its dispatch system integrate with the existing Motorola dispatch system used by some of its affiliated fleets. Digital Dispatch's TaxiTrack software meets this need with its Auto Call-Out and "No Trip" validation capabilities. Installed in each vehicle will be the MC1790 mobile computer that boasts a Windows CE operating system, an Active Matrix 256 color, touch screen display, GPS receiver as well as navigation and mapping capabilities. LA Taxi Co-Op will also purchase a complete data communication infrastructure that will utilize the most advanced features of Digital Dispatch's multi-site wireless dispatching technology.
