Comverse Announces 'Notify Me' Call Management Solution
SMS Notification Service Aids Call Initiators, and Results in More Completed Calls
WOODBURY, N.Y.-July 22, 2003-Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), and the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communications services, today announced expansion of its portfolio of revenue-generating ImPact offerings with the introduction of the "Notify Me" call management solution.
Notify Me is designed to increase average revenue per user (ARPU) by generating new operator revenue from uncompleted call attempts that formerly earned no revenue. Notify Me alerts wireless callers via SMS when a desired but unavailable party becomes available.
The degree to which Notify Me can improve the user experience is illustrated in the following two scenarios:
Scenario 1 (Without Notify Me): A phones B, getting a system announcement that B is out of range. After several more frustrating attempts, A gives up. The call is never completed and no revenue is generated.
Scenario 2 (With Notify Me): A phones B and hears "The party you wish to contact is currently unavailable. To be notified by SMS when that party becomes available, press no.." (Soon A gets the anticipated SMS notification, and using the single-keypress "Call Now" option, calls B and enjoys a timely conversation.)
Notify Me increases the ability to reach non-voicemail subscribers, and is also of significant utility when used in conjunction with voicemail.
"Offering the caller an option to receive SMS notification to help complete calls is another advance for Comverse," said Benny Einhorn, Chief Marketing Officer of Comverse. "Like many of our call management solutions, Notify Me can potentially increase operator income because it is a practical and useful service applied universally to all system users - requiring no promotion, user registration or learning curve. Users benefit from increased ease in reaching desired parties. By transforming millions of uncompleted calls into potential revenue-producing calls, ImPact services like Notify Me can generate significant new income for operators."
