The Holy See Press Office and Acotel launch a new informative service on SMS

The Pope’s Thought of the Day... A service which has been available in Italy since January, is designed to deliver the Pope’s Thought of the Day directly onto mobile phones. The Papal Thought of the Day has been taken from His Homilies and Messages and Speeches, and has become available thanks to the cooperation between Acotel and the Holy See Press Office. The service will be available from all Irish Operators, Vodafone, 02 and Meteor starting from July 22nd. It is the first time this service has been approved for launch outside of Italy.

The Holy See Press Office and Acotel are presenting this service designed for all those users that are interested in religious matters: Vodafone, O2 and Meteor clients will be able to receive the Pope’s Thought of the Day via SMS.

The service can be subscribed to by sending POPE ON as a text message to 53141. This will result in the Pope’s Thought being delivered at 12 noon to your phone on a daily basis.

“We are very proud of this initiative” - said Ciaran Carey, Acotel’s General Manager - “which offers us the opportunity to work with the Holy See Press Office, offering It our technology and our efforts in the mobility field. We are also very glad to be launching this important initiative for the first time outside of Italy, confirming and further reinforcing our global leadership in this area”.
