TIM Peru Chooses Nokia as the Main Provider for its GSM Network Expansion

HELSINKI, Finland--July 24, 2003--TIM Peru has selected Nokia as the principal supplier for the expansion of its GSM network. The expansion includes the implementation of new switching equipment, base station controllers, Nokia NetAct(TM) Traffica and other equipment to extend TIM Peru's GSM service.

Nokia has been a significant supplier of infrastructure as well as extensive services support to TIM Peru since 2001.

According to the terms of this new contract, Nokia will provide its GSM core network platform, giving TIM Peru the latest technology for GSM, the world's most popular digital standard for mobile telephony, with more than 800 million users globally.

Nokia will continue to help TIM Peru to deploy, integrate and optimize the complete network solution to achieve targeted Quality of Service levels. In addition, Nokia's care services will help TIM Peru to maintain network availability and improve day-to-day procedures as well as enhance network performance.

"We are very satisfied with the continuous cooperation we've had with Nokia," says Sergio Bartoletti, General Manager, TIM Peru. "One of the factors that distinguishes our company in the best way, is the latest technology we have introduced to Peru. We want to maintain our high level of quality in order to satisfy the needs of our clients, and Nokia is an excellent partner and our main supplier to accomplish that. With its Operations Solutions, Nokia helps us to focus on mobile service quality, network operations efficiency, and the technology and service."

"TIM Peru will be able to offer its users more mobile services, thanks to the investment that it is making to enlarge its nationwide GSM network," says Luis Gutierrez, General Manager, Nokia Networks Peru. "As a leading supplier of mobile networks, we are able to provide TIM Peru with the state-of-the-art GSM equipment that will enhance network quality and customer satisfaction."
