Xybernaut Delivers Mobile/Wearable Computing Technologies to U.S. Armed Forces

Company's MA V and Atigo Products to Support 'Active-Duty' Maintenance Activities

FAIRFAX, Va.--Aug. 5, 2003--Xybernaut(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR) today announced a recent hardware deployment totaling approximately $600,000 related to wearable computing programs within the United States Armed Forces. Under the deployment, teams of military technicians will utilize the mobile/wearable computing equipment for a variety of inspection, maintenance and repair functions related to military equipment currently on "active-duty."

"This initial armed forces deployment is a considerable momentum-builder for the Company and reinforces our prior positive expectations," stated Steven A. Newman, president of Xybernaut. "We anticipate additional shipments as well as service revenue based on our ongoing programs within the U. S. Department of Defense. Our goal with this project is to provide an integrated solution that will increase the effectiveness and productivity of today's armed forces maintenance personnel."

Xybernaut Mobile Assistant(R) V (MA(R) V) wearable computers form the foundation of the mobile/wearable maintenance platform. The MA V is a PC-equivalent wearable computer. The standard MA V unit features a "daylight readable" full-SVGA display, support for voice recognition, an Intel(R) Mobile Celeron(R) processor with SDRAM memory, internal hard disk drive (HDD), as well as PCMCIA, Compact Flash, multiple USB and Firewire peripheral ports. The devices also utilize hot-swappable lithium-ion batteries for long-term use in the field.

Atigo is based on Xybernaut intellectual property related to a dual-purpose computing device. Designed for dual use as a wireless flat panel display (FPD) or a stand-alone Web-enabled thin-client computer, Atigo provides a unique alternative to PDAs and Tablet PCs. Both Atigo capabilities will be used as part of this military maintenance deployment.
