Vodafone Spain Deploys Comverse's 'Who Called' And 'Call Return' To Offer New Advanced Services To Its Customers
WOODBURY, N.Y.--Aug. 6, 2003--Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), and the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communications services, today announced that Vodafone Spain, serving more than nine million subscribers, has deployed Comverse's Who Called and Call Return services, elements of Comverse ImPact.
Comverse ImPact services are designed to ensure that subscribers do not lose any of the calls they receive -- even if the terminal is turned off or out of range. Who Called assists in recovering those calls that were lost to the network when the target phone was switched off, out-of-range, had a depleted battery -- or if a caller reaching the voicemail system hung up without leaving a voice message. In these circumstances, the subscriber receives an SMS text message displaying the calling party's phone number, along with an invitation to reply via Comverse's one-touch Call Return option.
The expected increased volume of SMS notifications resulting from the new system activity generated by Who Called will be handled by the Comverse Intelligent Short Message Service Center (ISMSC), which ensures reliable management of heavy SMS traffic.
Call Return also facilitates new traffic by integrating an easy call-back option into the voicemail system. It is available to all voicemail subscribers (post-paid as well as prepaid) -- even when subscribers check messages from a fixed or mobile phone other than their own.
"Who Called and Call Return are innovative services implemented within Vodafone's network which demonstrate Vodafone's ongoing commitment to its customers to deliver products and services that are easy to use and bring a real added value," said Javier Jaquotot, Director of Strategy and Product Development at Vodafone Spain. "Among the array of new applications available, proven services like Who Called and Call Return continue to rank high among the strongest."
"In deploying Who Called and Call Return, Vodafone Spain pursues the double-pronged strategy of pioneering services while at the same time working to obtain synergies that will increase customer satisfaction, which is the focus of Comverse ImPact," said Giuseppe Elli, South Europe Regional Manager at Comverse. "Vodafone Spain again shows that serving customers with appropriate services is the surest path to win customer loyalty."
