O2 launches new Flagship store

Bringing a fusion of modern technology and art to the retailing environment

O2 will launch its impressive new flagship retail store on London's Oxford Street in mid- August 2003. The 719 square metre store will offer customers a uniquely interactive environment combining a fusion of modern technology and art. Created with the customer in mind, O2 has brought together a group of leading design, creative and marketing companies to collaborate on the shops design.

Customer experience is integral to the shop's design. The store has been developed to provide a space where customers are encouraged to stay, learn and play. Visitors to the store will be given advice and demonstrations on O2 products and services including live demonstrations of media messaging, games, ring-tones, wallpaper and icon downloads.

The lower ground floor is dedicated to mobile accessories, O2 Interactive partnerships including Arsenal FC and a special a gaming zone where keen gamers can come and try out the latest mobile games. The ground floor will showcase consumer products and services as well as the actual phone used during the filming of Matrix Reloaded. Business customers will be accommodated on the first floor where they will be able to access a range of facilities including the use of a conference room, and connections for their laptops so that they can surf the web or send emails.

Mark Stansfeld, Sales Director at O2 comments:

"The new O2 flagship store will be a destination for customers to experience the O2 world and a space where you can live and breathe the brand. Apart from guiding our customers through the latest in mobile technology, we will also introduce consumer-facing activities linked to our sponsorship deals including Arsenal FC. The flagship store is designed to encourage people to come in, stay, play and learn in a relaxed environment."

The shop showcases new technology and includes a large interactive screen that will be the centerpiece of the main window. Images of passers-by will be captured and reproduced as a moving picture on the screen, drawing customers into the shop. The screen will also project product offers and other O2 messages. Inside the store, welcome messages, product & service announcements and offers will be projected on the walls in a unique configuration developed by leading designers IDEO.

The Oxford Street store will be the 205th O2 store in the UK.
