WASHINGTON, D.C. - Illustrating its commitment to enhancing the entertainment focus of the upcoming CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & ENTERTAINMENT 2003 conference, the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association is taking unprecedented steps to produce the best and most up-to-date entertainment programming available in wireless today.

CTIA has enlisted the expertise of entertainment industry insiders to both develop entertainment-related programming and attract high-level entertainment industry speakers for the conference's educational program. Specifically, these experts will co-host two of the conferences educational program elements: a half-day Games Workshop and a special session on the Wireless Music Landscape.

"Perhaps the most exciting developments in wireless data during the last several years has been the increased attention the segment has received from the entertainment industry," said Mark Desautels, CTIA Vice President of Wireless Internet Development. "With the assistance of our entertainment expert partners, we feel the entertainment-focused programming at CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & ENTERTAINMENT 2003 will raise the bar for all conferences to come. Their knowledge of this space and their contacts in the entertainment field will greatly enhance the quality of an already fantastic event."

Ralph Simon, Chairman of the Mobile Entertainment Forum's Americas group, will both build and moderate a panel session titled The Wireless Music Landscape. Simon is the former Executive Vice President of Capitol Records and Blue Note Records in Los Angeles and founded several new music ventures, including EMI's New Technology & New Media division, Yourmobile/Moviso (later acquired by Vivendi Universal) and the Zomba Group of music companies including its Jive Records labels (later acquired by Bertelsmann AG).

Robert Tercek a partner with Simon at the mobile entertainment consultancy firm Machines That Go Ping, is a veteran of such entertainment entities as Columbia Tristar Television Group, Sony Pictures Entertainment and MTV: Music Television. He also led PacketVideo and serves as Chairman of the Game Developer Conference Mobile Symposium. He will co-produce and emcee the Games Workshop, a half-day, in-depth seminar on the convergence of the gaming and wireless industries.

"The MEF's goal is to build a successful mobile entertainment industry through outreach and the facilitation and implementation of the mobile entertainment value chain," said Simon." Working with CTIA is an effective step in achieving this goal and we look forward to a fun and informative program in Las Vegas."

"CTIA is known as the leading provider of quality wireless industry conferences," said Tercek. "We are thrilled at the opportunity to work with them at this critical juncture in the convergence of the wireless and entertainment industries."

Simon and Tercek are partners in Machines That Go Ping, an international advisory group based in the UK. They manage the global Media & Entertainment practice for MTGP from their base in Los Angeles, advising a range of network operators, telecom technology vendors, application developers, media companies and entertainment talent on digital media opportunities.
