The Radicati Group Releases "Unified Messaging Market Trends, 2003-2007"

URL(s): Radicati Group

Palo Alto, CA – August 18, 2003: A new study by The Radicati Group, Inc., a market research and consulting firm based in Palo Alto, CA, reveals that unified messaging (UM) and unified communications (UC) technology is gaining traction among businesses around the world.

Despite high prices, survey results show that about 22% of corporations have deployed some type of UM product; however, most of these deployments are only to a small group of privileged users. In fact, only 3% of the user population surveyed is equipped with UM. These results show that the market potential for UM is still very significant.

Businesses are deploying UM for a variety of reasons. The need for mobility, especially in regards to email, has become a top driver for UM. In addition, businesses are gradually replacing legacy messaging and PBX equipment with more sophisticated IP-based communication systems and UM systems.

The study segments the market into three groups: UM Enterprise Vendors, UM Service Providers, and UM Suppliers to Service Providers. Together, the total UM Market is expected to generate $537 million by the end of 2003.
