Nokia and T-Mobile Announce Partnership On Mobile Services For N-Gage

London, 5 February 2003 --T-Mobile International and Nokia announce today that they have agreed to co-develop innovative mobile services globally for the Nokia N-GageTM game deck. The Nokia N-Gage game deck enables an enriched interactive gaming experience by introducing an innovative wireless multiplayer platform for both local and remote gaming. As part of this partnership, Nokia and T-Mobile are working to create high quality games and integrated games services available globally for N-Gage consumers via T-Mobile's network. T-Mobile will in addition develop and offer this platform in the future to other operators in the industry.

As a result, mobile gamers will have an easy to use experience that allows the download of games and game related content using the latest technologies. T-Mobile's intent is to be the first network operator in deploying games commercially for the Nokia N-Gage game deck in Europe and in the US market, with online functionality.

Nikesh Arora, CMO, T-Mobile International comments, "This partnership with Nokia emphasizes both T-Mobile's commitment to significantly growing the mobile data market with pioneering partnerships and a firm belief that gaming and entertainment will be key drivers to mass market usage of mobile data. Mobile gaming represents the next step in the evolution of the games industry, by adding interactivity, and mobility to traditional gaming options."

"Working with a leading mobile operator like T-Mobile means that we can offer N-Gage consumers a total package of both exciting, innovative games as well as integrated mobile game services. Gamers will be able to take advantage of the unique capabilities that the Nokia N-Gage offers, including multiplayer games over GPRS and mobile game services like downloading game content or uploading high scores and screenshots," said Ilkka Raiskinen, Senior Vice President, Entertainment and Media Business Unit, Nokia Mobile Phones.
