HP iPAQ Pocket PC Treasure Hunt Gives College Students Opportunity to Learn and Earn at Spring Break

Real World Hawaii Star Colin Mortenson to Host the Hunt

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., Feb 24, 2003 - College students celebrating Spring Break in Panama City Beach this March will have the opportunity to learn and earn through the HP iPAQ Pocket PC Treasure Hunt. Conducted over a two-week period in mid-March, the iPAQ Treasure Hunt will pit 20 five-student teams in a timed race around the city and beaches with the winning team receiving five new HP iPAQ Pocket PCs and $2,500. The second place team will receive iPAQs.

Using the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h1910, student teams will receive clues via a wireless infrared signal from another iPAQ. Prior to the competition, the qualifying teams will receive technical instruction on how to use the h1910. HP will conduct a tech fair on the beach at its own "Cyber Smoothie Shack," where students will be able to test-drive a variety of HP products, including desktops, notebooks and iPAQs. Free smoothies will be served at the venue.

MTV's "Real World Hawaii" star Colin Mortensen will be joining HP for Spring Break on March 13 and 14 in Panama City Beach. Mortensen is currently starring in "Real World/Road Rules Battle of the Sexes," which airs on Monday nights at 10 p.m. on MTV. He will be moderating the HP iPAQ Pocket PC Treasure Hunt and hanging at the HP "Cyber Smoothie Shack" on the beach.

"We wanted to be able to reach college students where they congregate during Spring Break and to provide a very casual atmosphere in which they can check out the latest in personal computing technology," said Robyn West, vice president of marketing, HP Personal Systems Group. "The iPAQ Treasure Hunt is a fun, interactive way to show students the value of mobile computing while also giving them the chance to win $2,500 towards their education."

iPAQ Pocket PC h1910

The award-winning HP iPAQ Pocket PC h1910 is designed for the individual on the go, offering an ideal combination of features and distinctive design to fit an active lifestyle. The h1910 has 64 MB RAM, a secure digital (SD) expansion slot for additional storage, a removable slim battery and a synchronization cable.
