WHERENET AND SYMBOL TECHNOLOGIES EXPAND COLLABORATION
Symbol Adds Wireless Real-Time Location System to its Portfolio of Products and Services
SANTA CLARA, CA --- Feb. 24, 2003 --- WhereNet Corp., the worldwide leader of wireless location and communications solutions for managing mobile resources, announced today that Symbol Technologies, Inc., a global leader in enterprise mobility solutions, has chosen to integrate WhereNet’s technology into its Spectrum24 RTL System (Real-Time Location) product offering. Symbol aims to provide its customers with a single solution for real-time asset location, tracking and management.
Today’s announcement extends the reseller agreement between Symbol and WhereNet originally established in March 1999 and strengthens the foundation for a more integrated, strategic collaboration. The companies intend to work together on future product development initiatives.
By incorporating WhereNet’s wireless location technology in conjunction with any number of Symbol mobile and wireless solutions, Global 1000 customers will realize even greater return on investment by being able to track, locate and provide real-time data about countless assets anywhere in the supply chain, from the assembly line to the retail store shelf. Such expanded enterprise capabilities will drive new business processes and enhance efficiencies in industrial manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and transportation and logistics.
