Size Meets Substance With This Stylish, Integrated Palm Powered(TM) Phone

LAS VEGAS, Jan 7, 2003 - Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung), the world's third largest manufacturer of wireless handsets, today introduced the SPH-i500, a fully integrated Palm-Powered(TM) phone that gives customers the power to organize, connect, and view HTML Web sites in full, vibrant color.

The sleek, clamshell designed i500 is a 3G 1XRTT wireless phone-PDA device from Samsung featuring thin film transistor (TFT) screen technology. The i500 boasts a vibrant 160 x 240 pixel touch screen panel that supports 65,000 colors, allowing for uncompromising visual quality no matter what the customer does with the device. With the phone's Blazer(TM) multimode browser, customers can access and view HTML Web sites as they can on their personal computer.

The i500 operates on Palm OS(R) 4.1 and has 16MB of memory allowing both business professionals and consumers to use thousands of Palm applications to remain productive, informed and entertained. The i500 also features Universal Serial Bus (USB) connectivity and an infrared (IR) port. Consumers can beam information to other Palm devices as well as transfer information at high speeds.

"The i500 is the latest effort by Samsung to provide innovative productivity tools that will meet our customers' demanding lifestyles," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of wireless terminals, Samsung. "This sophisticated device is an all-in-one answer for those who need a wireless device that maximizes their busy professional and personal life."

A compact dual-band/tri-mode handset, weighing less than five ounces, the i500's slim and lightweight design makes it ideal to fit in a purse or shirt pocket. Additionally, the i500 features a backlight for easy use of the keypad.

The i500 is packaged with a CD-ROM containing Palm desktop software, PocketMirror conduit software for Microsoft Outlook, Palm Game Pack and phone off images.
