WebTech Launches First Dual Mode GPRS/Satellite & GPS System for 'Always-On' Transport Fleet Monitoring

Real-Time Monitoring of Hazardous Materials or Long Haul Transport

FT. LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, Mar 11, 2003 - TMC Conference - WebTech Wireless Inc., a leading Fleet Telematics Services Provider, today announced the introduction of the WebTech Locator 4000 ruggedized Telematics Device that utilizes both GSM/GPRS networks and the Orbcomm Satellite Network to provide transport fleets with an always-on connection to their back office. The WebTech Locator 4000 will be the first fleet telematics device to combine the high data throughput of North America's new coast-to-coast GSM/GPRS networks, a global satellite network for non-cellular areas and GPS to power WebTech's suite of wireless fleet services (Tracking, Navigation, Messaging, Telemetry, J1708 reporting).

"Fleet operators can no longer comfortably rely on analog networks when analog's traditional shortcomings in data delivery are coupled with its now limited future," commented Frank Viquez, Director of Automotive Electronics, Allied Business Intelligence, Inc. "There is a clearly-defined need for new fleet telematics solutions which can balance satellite's ubiquitous coverage with the economies and high data capabilities of GSM/GPRS networks. WebTech Wireless has once again taken a pioneering role to fill that market need, with the introduction of the WebTech Locator 4000."

The WebTech Locator 4000 and Quadrant Wireless Fleet Services for trucking/transportation fleets will be on display with Maddocks Software at the TMC Conference - the American Trucking Association's Annual Meeting & Technology Exhibition in Ft. Lauderdale in the AT&T Wireless Booth # 1804 and will be commercially available in June 2003. WebTech's solution is based on an open Telematics Services Architecture (TSA) that enables data integration to leading Dispatch and Fleet Management Software offered by industry leaders Melton Technologies and Maddocks Systems Inc.

"While multi-mode communication devices exist today, they are primarily based on low data throughput networks such as cellemetry or AMPS that can't access the Internet and really limit the fleet data transmissions." said Cameron Fraser, Chief Technology Officer, WebTech Wireless. "We see that many transport fleets would benefit greatly from having simple web-based forms for their drivers that upload directly into back office software. This is accomplished with GPRS as the most advanced network of its kind to provide cost-efficient access to real-time data."

As an end-to-end solution provider, WebTech will also make available a new suite of web-based wireless applications to address the operational data required for trucking and transportation fleet management. The Quadrant Fleet Services Portal for trucking and transport fleets will provide access to existing GPS Tracking, GeoFence, Messaging and Telemetry Services with Fuel Tax, DOT Logs, Maintenance and J1708 Data Reporting.
