Orange Slovensko chose Reach-U to launch mobile positioning
Reach-U location-based services (LBSs) and middleware were launched by Orange, the first operator in Slovakia to introduce mobile positioning.
Orange Slovensko chose Reach-U middleware and LBS package, to provide LBS solution to Orange Slovensko’s 1.8 million subscribers. Four LBSs were made available to public on December 2nd, 2002.
All Orange Slovensko LBS are powered by Reach-U Pinpoint Mgine middleware. Pinpoint Mgine is full-scale middleware for fast and cost-efficient rollout of LBS services. Pinpoint Mgine modular design covers complete middleware functionality such as privacy-provisioning, accuracy improvement (ECGI method), GIS-functionality, O&M, post- and prepaid billing etc. In addition, Pinpoint Mgine includes unique functions for value-added services such as location-based privacy, personalized location descriptions and mobile terminal capabilities.
Reach-U applications package launched by Orange Slovensko, include community application FriendFinder, asset tracking service Monitor, game Bomber, and thematic Find Santa Claus game launched for Christmas. In addition, Orange created location-based information service using PinPoint Mgine platform.
CEO of Reach-U, Teet Jagomägi, states: "We feel very proud for being part of Orange’s project. Rolling out mobile positioning being first in the country is a task of highest liability. We were glad to use experience gained in Estonia, where we also participated in introducing positioning to the market. In this situation advanced privacy and other functionality of our middleware are of utmost importance".
Reach-U, established 12 years ago, is a company focusing on LBS middleware and services, along with competence of handling geographic content. Reach-U has signed Global Sales and Distribution Agreement with Ericsson in September 2001. Reach-U technology is installed to mobile operators in Slovakia, Croatia, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Finland, and Estonia.
