5G Wireless Launches VoIP Long Distance with Rates under 3 Cents per Minute
MARINA DEL REY, Calif.--March 26, 2003--5G Wireless Communications, Inc. (OTCBB:FGWC) announced today the launch of its VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service for termination and origination of domestic and international calls, bringing national long distance rates to levels as low as 2.9 cents per minute.
"Our Voice service will work on any broadband connection: Verizon, SBC, Covad, Time Warner Cable, or any other," stated Jerry Dix, President and Chief Executive Officer for 5G. "We have been developing this product over the past several months and can now offer it to all customers with high-speed internet service in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as well as 1500 regions around the world, allowing clients to receive substantial savings compared to traditional long distance rates. Our immediate focus will be on wholesale customers that can bring us volume."
The VoIP service will eventually be offered as part of the 5G Wireless "last mile" service package to enhance customer retention. The high speed 802.11b 5G "Wi Fi" technology, which is being used by government, business and residential customers, is often out performing expectations. The VoIP service will soon be made available as an add-on service or as a standalone to anyone with a DSL, Cable, T1, or other form of broadband service in any market.
"Naturally, 5G Wireless subscribers will benefit since this service will be offered as part of the bundled services package we offer," stated Brian Corty, Chief Technology Officer of 5G. "Bringing voice to our content services was the next logical move, and we have other offerings currently in beta testing with release dates scheduled in the very near future."
5G's first wholesale customer just signed on with the ability to ramp up to approximately 3 million minutes per month, and other wholesale customers requiring this type of volume are being aggressively pursued. "We are committed to bringing our shareholders the value they deserve, and the most logical way to do that is by developing every possible broadband-based revenue opportunity," said Jerry Dix. "The VoIP offering allows us to go the 'extra mile' for our customers."
5G Wireless Communications, Inc. (OTCBB:FGWC - News, www.5gwireless.com), located in Marina del Rey, CA, designs, builds, operates, markets, and services wireless broadband systems. Utilizing proprietary IEEE 802.11b enhancements for "Last Mile" point-to-point and point-to-multi-point networks, 5G customers receive dependable, super high-speed Internet access, without the usual installation delays and at significantly lower costs than most major competitors.
