InphoMatch Adds SS7/C7 Capability for Global Text Messaging Interoperability
InphoMatch Extends Wireless Interoperability for a Seamless Global User Messaging Experience
CHANTILLY, Va.--April 2, 2003--InphoMatch, Inc., the leading provider of domestic and global messaging solutions, announced today the addition of SS7/C7 capability to its InphoXchange inter-carrier messaging platforms.
The SS7/C7 gateway expands the number of protocols with which carriers can connect to InphoMatch's global, IP-based message interoperability network.
SS7/C7 (Common Channel Signaling System 7) is a global telecommunications standard. While North American carriers use IP protocols (such as SMPP, UCP or WCTP) to exchange text messages, many carriers around the world utilize the SS7/C7 telecom protocol. The InphoMatch solution gives subscribers the capability to exchange text messages seamlessly between GSM and non-GSM networks.
Plus, because the InphoMatch solution connects directly into a carrier's SS7/C7 network, carriers can deliver cross-carrier text messages without additional infrastructure costs.
"Our SS7/C7 gateway enables carriers to take advantage of the infrastructure they already have in place in order to exchange text messages worldwide," said Phil Sweatman, CEO for InphoMatch, Inc. "Because SS7 is an integral part of messaging in the GSM world, the addition of this capability is key to promoting international interoperable text messaging."
InphoMatch's SS7/C7 gateway's capabilities include:
-- Direct delivery to handset without involving home SMSC;
-- Protocol conversion between SS7/C7 and an IP interface;
-- Support of Virtual SMSC functionality and behaves as an SC network element;
-- Support of Virtual MSC/VHLR (Virtual Network) functionality for incoming SMS messages;
-- Support of customized character mapping based on carrier preference;
-- Firewall capability for anti-spam protection;
-- Support for extremely high message volume for specialized applications such as text voting;
-- Interface with Data Persistence sub-systems for storing and retrieval of SMS messages, retrieval of provisioning information for carriers and supporting application logic as provisioned for carriers, and for storing of statistical information.
