Snapfish Mobile - Powered by BlueFuel Now Available on Three New Phones for AT&T Wireless Customers
Summus and Snapfish offer Snapfish Mobile for new mMode phones
RALEIGH, N.C.--April 3, 2003--Summus, Inc. (USA) (OTCBB: SUMU), a developer of applications and information processing tools that optimize the wireless multimedia experience, and Snapfish, the nation's leading online photo service, today announced the availability of Snapfish Mobile(TM) on AT&T Wireless for three new mMode(SM) phones manufactured by Nokia, Panasonic, and Sony Ericsson.
Snapfish Mobile - Powered by BlueFuel(TM) allows mMode customers to share, print, and store photos right from their mobile phones. In addition to digital camera prints, traditional film photos can be shared via mobile phones. When subscribers send their film to Snapfish, they receive their hard copy prints and negatives, plus an online album in which their images are scanned and stored. These photos are accessible through Snapfish Mobile - Powered by BlueFuel just like digital camera photos. Subscribers can access their Snapfish account seamlessly from their mobile phones and use the various features they are familiar with on the Web.
Snapfish Mobile originally launched on the AT&T Wireless' mMode service in December 2002 on the Sony Ericsson T68i. Summus has made a number of improvements to the application since its initial launch. This new version of Snapfish Mobile includes a new and enhanced BlueFuel image solution, which improves the look of the photos and allows users to view crystal clear pictures from their phones.
The new mMode phones include the Panasonic GU87, Nokia 3650, and the Sony Ericsson T306. The Panasonic GU87 is AT&T Wireless' first integrated camera phone. Snapfish Mobile is also now available on the Motorola T720, Nokia 7210 and a refreshed Sony Ericsson T68. All six phones have color screens and many include extra features such as MMS functionality, optional camera attachment and optional joystick for game play. Customers can purchase the new content directly from their wireless phones for a monthly fee of $1.99 or daily usage charge of $0.49 in addition to the standard mMode charges. As an introduction to Snapfish Mobile, Snapfish offers the first roll of film developed free and 10 free digital camera prints.
"These new handsets are just the kind of devices that will drive more users to wireless photo-sharing. Now, even more mMode customers can have access to their film and digital photos anytime, anywhere," said Raj Kapoor, president and co-founder of Snapfish.
"We are pleased that AT&T Wireless has continued to support Snapfish Mobile and the BlueFuel platform by offering this application on so many more devices," said Bjorn Jawerth, CEO of Summus. "This announcement represents another step in our quest to establish Summus' BlueFuel as the premier global mobile and wireless platform."
Snapfish Mobile is powered by Summus' BlueFuel platform. The BlueFuel platform enables service providers, content providers and handset manufacturers to create and deliver mobile applications quickly and on a much wider range of devices and operating systems than competing solutions. The platform and architecture give developers the tools necessary to easily build applications for today's resource-constrained wireless environment while providing a superior user experience.
AT&T Wireless mMode(SM) service is available exclusively on the company's next-generation GSM(TM)/GPRS network serving thousands of cities from coast to coast.
