Wysdom certifies the industry's first mobile network operating system on BEA Weblogic Jrockit
Wysdom Delivers on BEA and Intel to Bring Common Operating Environment to Mobile Network Operators and 3rd Party Vendors in Cost Effective Manner
Wysdom, the leading provider of mobile network operating system software, today announced the availability of its Wysdom MAP-OS product family on BEA WebLogic JRockit(TM), the world's fastest Java Virtual Machine (JVM), running on Intel-based servers. The release of the MAP-OS product family built on BEA (Nasdaq: BEAS) WebLogic and powered by Intel is designed to provide companies who are building carrier-grade products and solutions, with the ability to do so in a rapid and cost-effective manner by leveraging Wysdom's proven, operating environment functionality.
The growing number of revenue generating, value added services that are being deployed on the Wysdom MAP- OS platforms place increased performance demands on all parts of the overall solution - the application server, the operating system and the server hardware. Using BEA Weblogic JRockit optimized for Intel-based servers can yield Wysdom MAP-OS customers with the immediate benefits tied to one common operating environment - providing high performance, proven reliability, n-tier scalability and well defined operations manageability.
"The availability of Wysdom's MAP-OS product family on BEA WebLogic JRockit represents an important step in our vision of the evolving mobile internet market," said Scott Edgington, vice president and general manager, global software partners, BEA Systems. "Strategic partners such as Wysdom play an important role in helping us to execute on that vision."
"Our BEA and Intel initiative provides Wysdom with the ability to deliver our MAP-OS family of products on multiple operating systems and server technologies," said David Annan, Chief Technology Officer, Wysdom. "By offering our mobile network operator customers and vendor partners a variety of open standards-based operating environments to choose from, we are truly delivering on the open mobile architecture promise."
Wysdom MAP-OS draws on the key elements of the available industry standards - Java, XML, Web services and ParlayX - all in a modular application development environment, packaged together as a flexible mobile network operator service enablement/management 'wireless middleware' platform. As a true mobile network operating system, Wysdom MAP-OS simplifies the development and deployment of mobile data services by abstracting complex non-IP network elements and binds them through a common IP architecture that is controlled by the mobile network operator.
"The Wysdom, BEA and Intel combination can now provide unprecedented flexibility and price/performance benefits for mobile operators and 3rd party vendors seeking an attractive cost of ownership and high ROI solution," noted Michael J. O'Farrell, Wysdom's Chief Strategy Officer. "By leveraging the power and versatility of BEA WebLogic JRockit, we can now license our Wysdom MAP-OS to companies that want to build and deploy mobile data solutions for operators, enterprises and developers in a pre-packaged manner on Intel-based servers."
