Digital Dispatch To Proceed With First Installation of Pathfinder in North American Taxi Market
Richmond, BC, August 12, 2003 - Digital Dispatch Systems Inc. of Richmond, BC, a world leader in providing turnkey wireless data solution, announced today that it has taken a landmark step to expand North American market for Pathfinder, its newest dispatching software, with a new contract. It has signed an agreement with White Rock South Surrey Taxi Ltd, better known as Pacific Cabs, of White Rock, BC, under which the latter will purchase 53 GDT 890 mobile terminals and Pathfinder dispatching software. The contract with Pacific Cabs also includes a 5-year maintenance agreement.
Pathfinder is a computerized dispatch system that integrates user-friendly application software, wireless networks and Mobile Data Terminals with GPS receivers to provide a seamless mobile data solution. Taxi companies are able to optimize dispatch operations and fleet utilization, improve customer service and increase productivity and profits. This system has been embraced by many large European taxi companies over the last couple of years.
"We chose the Digital Dispatch product because of its great track record. This system will eliminate the disadvantages of our voice dispatch system," said Tim Land, General Manager of Pacific Cabs. The company will install its vehicles with Digital Dispatch's mobile data terminals equipped with GPS and in-vehicle credit card payment processing capabilities. "The mapping and the GPS will not only make dispatching more efficient but will also ensure driver safety," Mr. Land continued. "The in-vehicle credit card processing will make transactions faster and easier to keep track of. Above all, this system will optimize our operation, which will potentially increase our revenue," he summarized.
"Pathfinder is our most versatile application software for fleet dispatching," said Dale Mortimer, Vice President of Marketing for Digital Dispatch. "We have a number of large European taxi fleets using this system as well as a black car company in New York City. Pathfinder is our primary product for the future and we have been investing in development of this product to make it fit the North American taxi market. We are now ready to release Version 3.0 for its first installation," he added. "Pacific Cabs is ideal for the first installation and beta testing because of its size and proximity to us. We will work very closely with them to fine tune Pathfinder and make it ready for all sizes of taxi companies in North America," Mr. Mortimer added.
