Pinpoint Introduces FuelShop Mobile Content Storefront Solution
DURHAM, N.C.--Dec. 2, 2003--Pinpoint Networks, Inc., a leading provider of software and services for managing and delivering mobile content, today announced the introduction of FuelShop, a turnkey, private-label mobile content storefront service. Built on Pinpoint's carrier-class Fuel technology, FuelShop creates a new, revenue-generating opportunity that is fast to market and requires minimal investment.
"With this new addition to our Fuel product line, Pinpoint is building on our mobile content management and provisioning experience with companies like Verizon Wireless and O2," explained Jud Bowman, president and CEO of Pinpoint. "FuelShop customers can immediately generate revenue from application sales, while attracting new users and increasing the loyalty of existing consumers."
FuelShop easily allows all distribution channels in the mobile data ecosystem - including carriers, handset manufacturers, portals, traditional media companies, and content providers - to offer premium mobile content to consumers quickly, with minimal upfront investment or ongoing costs. FuelShop provides all of the functionality necessary to source, select, sell and deliver mobile content directly to mobile users through a service bureau model.
"Through FuelShop, Pinpoint is enabling yet another distribution channel for the mobile content we have developed in-house and licensed from third parties," explained Per-Fredrik Hagermark, director of sales, Aspiro. "It creates an opportunity to get our content in front of new consumers, and to leverage the marketing efforts of FuelShop sites."
Customers can create their own unique content catalogs from Pinpoint's database of more than 20,000 fully licensed titles including games, ringtones, and wallpaper from over 200 content providers; or they can simply integrate their own exclusive content into the storefront. All popular application types including Java (J2ME), Palm, PocketPC, and Symbian are supported. Each application goes through Pinpoint's specialized device testing and content qualification process, to ensure that it meets or exceeds consumer expectations. FuelShop supports all major handsets, and matches content to the purchaser's phone to assure that content is compatible with the user's phone.
Each FuelShop implementation is integrated into the customer's existing online properties, creating a customized web-based storefront for the presentation and sale of mobile content. Multiple user interfaces, including web site, mobile Internet, SMS and print can be offered.
Additionally, FuelShop supports a number of flexible payment options, including carrier billing, credit card billing and premium SMS billing methods. All content is delivered directly to the purchaser's handset through over-the-air provisioning mechanisms, providing consumers with instant and easy access to their purchases.
As part of the FuelShop offering, Pinpoint handles all billing, revenue reconciliation and settlement, including the revenue share distribution with content providers. Detailed reporting on purchase activity, revenue generation, user behavior and application popularity are also provided.
