Freeserve becomes second customer to launch downloadable Mobile Entertainment Portal
London, 4th December 2003 -- Mobilista today announced that Freeserve, the UK’s No. 1 for the Internet and part of Wanadoo, one of Europe’s leading ISPs will become the second customer to launch its J2ME-based Mobile Entertainment Portal. Under the terms of the deal, Freeserve users will be able to download the branded mobile application that will allow them to browse, preview and purchase content from a broad portfolio including polyphonic ring tones, colour wallpapers and branded Java games such as Star Trek™ Nemesis and The Italian Job™.
Freeserve will become the first company to launch Version 2.0 of the Mobile Entertainment Portal, which incorporates Mobilista’s patent-pending one click billing technology. By allowing users of the application to make purchases with a single click and without prior setup or pre-payment, Mobilista expects to deliver much higher returns.
David Kaye, Managing Director of Mobilista, said: “Freeserve is a great partner for us to be working with. By combining our innovative billing and content distribution technology with such a strong consumer brand, we expect to demonstrate the true potential of next generation mobile services.”
Mobilista is helping to create a new mobile content distribution paradigm for media and content owners. By allowing them to install a branded, customizable application which resides permanently on the user’s handset, Mobilista creates a powerful direct relationship for billing and content delivery. The company’s current customers include Freeserve and Lycos UK.
