VoiceGenie Announces ScanSoft OpenSpeech Recognizer 2.0 and Speechify 3.0

TORONTO, Dec. 4 - VoiceGenie Technologies, the leading provider of VoiceXML platforms, development environments and tools for advanced speech solutions, today announced the immediate availability of its latest open standards platform release, Version 6.1, making it the first generally available VoiceXML platform worldwide to offer full integration and support for the SpeechWorks(R) Suite of Network Speech Solutions from ScanSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSFT), including the recent releases of OpenSpeech Recognizer(TM) 2.0 and SpeechPearl(TM) XML 1.1 speech recognition software and Speechify(R) 3.0 text-to-speech (TTS) software.

With this release, customers will now receive immediate access to ScanSoft's latest product releases within each VoiceXML application running on a VoiceGenie platform. Global enterprises around the world can take advantage of ScanSoft's broad language support for speech recognition and TTS. In addition, the VoiceGenie platform fully exposes, at the VoiceXML layer, all of the capabilities of OpenSpeech Recognizer 2.0 speech recognition engine, including SpeakFreely(TM) natural language capabilities.

The latest generation release also marks the introduction of H.323 support, Multi-phase Transfers that enable a richer caller experience during call transfer operations, and VoiceXML optimizations delivering proven performance in excess of 200 ports(1).

These new features extend beyond the platform's many VoiceXML extensions including full call recording, MRCP support, support for multiple ASR/TTS engines, and enhanced OA&M functionality via the web-based VoiceGenie Management Console (VMC) interface. The VMC is an integral component of the Cluster Management Platform that provides a powerful and intuitive Web-based interface for real-time, centralized and comprehensive management and monitoring of multiple platform deployments.

"VoiceGenie continues to lead the market in terms of our ability to quickly execute on the integration and full support of the latest speech technologies on our platform." said Adrian Lee-Kwen, Vice President of Engineering at VoiceGenie. "This release introduces some significant performance enhancements that raise the bar for open-standards platforms worldwide and will allow us to provide our customers with the industry-leading features, functionality and performance they require. Our first to market integration of ScanSoft's latest ASR and TTS offerings, along with enhanced OA&M capabilities, development tools and simultaneous PSTN/VoIP/SIP/H.323 support is in line with our vision to deliver the industry's most flexible, reliable and scalable platform for advanced speech solutions."

"VoiceGenie is clearly a leading supplier of VoiceXML based speech platforms, and together we have successfully deployed VoiceXML-optimized speech solutions around the world," said Steve Chambers, general manager of Network Speech Solutions at ScanSoft. "VoiceGenie's ability to be the first platform vendor to bring our latest speech technologies to market, and its commitment to standards like VoiceXML and MRCP, will accelerate the development and deployment of high-quality speech solutions, enabling customers to deploy large-scale, mission-critical speech solutions."

The latest VoiceGenie release provides simultaneous support for PSTN and VoIP environments as well as the predominant telephony interfaces, including Central Office and PBX products, protocols and interfaces.

"With the addition of H.323 to our existing support for both VoIP/SIP and PSTN environments, we can continue to enable an even greater variety of architectures and deployment scenarios, as well as provide the framework for both Distributed Speech Recognition (DSR) and Multimodal applications," said Mark Scott, Chief Technology Officer at VoiceGenie Technologies.
