NAVTECH(R) Maps Now Available for Developers Creating Location-Based Applications for BREW Platform

CHICAGO, Dec. 10 -- Navigation Technologies, a leading provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation, Internet/wireless applications and business solutions, is now offering sample NAVTECH maps to developers creating applications for QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW) platform that take advantage of Location-Based Services (LBS). Developers incorporating Location-Based Services into their applications can download a test version of NAVTECH Maps -- a map of the city of San Diego -- through the following URL accessible via the BREW website: http://www.qualcomm.com/brew .

Standard development data fees for sample NAVTECH maps have been waived for authenticated BREW developers, and evaluation fees have been waived for potential developers that are members of the BREW alliance program.

"QUALCOMM's BREW system is a leading solution in the wireless space. This relationship will benefit the wireless value chain from the developer to the handset manufacturer to the operators and ultimately the consumer. We anticipate seeing many interesting new BREW-based LBS applications as a result of this enhanced relationship," said Navigation Technologies' George Filley, Vice President & General Manager - North American Internet & Wireless Business Unit.

"We are proud to align ourselves with the gold standard of digital map providers," said Mike Yuen, director, BREW Developer Relations, QUALCOMM Internet Services. "NAVTECH Maps will enable developers to create an incremental level of value for operators offering BREW-based services around the world. The range of location-based application options made possible with NAVTECH Maps is compelling -- from turn-by turn-navigation to location-centric games and location-aware messaging."

Navigation Technologies' NAVTECH maps are infused with more than 150 attributes such as turn restrictions, one-way streets and street signs, key information points making travel from one point to another easier and more efficient for the user. The company's proprietary collection process involves driving the roads in order to update and verify information resulting in highly accurate maps that reflect the 'reality' of the roads.

QUALCOMM's BREW system provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes application developers, publishers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and consumers.
