724 Solutions Extends Linux Support to its X-treme Alerts Platform
Santa Barbara, CA – (December 19, 2003) – 724 Solutions (NASDAQ: SVNX; TSX: SVN), a leading provider of next-generation IP-based network and data services, announced today that it is now offering its X-treme Alerts Platform (XAP) on open-source Linux. This latest version of XAP, available in both hosted and in-house deployments, increases performance and significantly reduces total cost of ownership for mobile network operators.
The XAP is an actionable alerting platform solution that allows mobile operators to easily send highly personalized, permission-based Short Message Service (SMS) and/or Multimedia Message Service (MMS) alerts to subscribers.

For mobile network operators opting for a hosted solution, 724’s XAP’s use of Linux delivers significant cost advantages by easing ongoing operational expenses and eliminating up-front capital outlays, at the same time preserving a migration path, if desired, to a licensed platform.
Mobile network operators use 724’s XAP to increase Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) through the delivery of highly personalized, time-sensitive alerts that include news, sports scores, and other premium content as well as downloads of ring tones, games, music and graphics. Additionally, the XAP can be used to stimulate adoption of SMS/telephony voting applications, by prompting the subscriber to cast a vote.
