Intrado Enters Contract with Greater Harris County 911 Network, in Houston To Deliver Innovative, Mobile Safety Solution

Police Officers Involved in Motor Vehicle Accidents Benefit from First Integrated Solution That Transmits Medical Data to EMS Providers Using the 9-1-1 Infrastructure

LONGMONT, Colo.--July 29, 2003--Intrado Inc. (Nasdaq:TRDO), the nation's leading provider of solutions that manage and deliver mission-critical information for telecommunications providers and public safety organizations, today announced a contract with the Greater Harris County (Texas) 9-1-1 Emergency Network, to deliver an enhanced mobile safety solution to area police. Intrado's unique solution, IntelliVector(SM) Emergency Roadside Medical Messaging Service (ERMMS), gives victims of motor vehicle accidents -- in this case police officers -- access to life-saving medical care based on their personal medical and health care provider profiles.

Under the terms of the contract, Intrado will provide both the technology and data management interface to the existing regional 9-1-1 system and will serve as the system integrator for partners such as Cross Country Automotive Services (Cross Country) and Roadside Telematics Corporation in delivering enhanced emergency response. The nation's first system to electronically deliver person-specific medical and healthcare provider data to Emergency Medical Service (EMS) providers seamlessly connects to the 9-1-1 infrastructure. This is an enhancement to the Automatic Collision Notification (ACN) system introduced by Intrado, Cross Country, Ford Motor Company and the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network in June of 2002.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, each year approximately 27 million motor vehicle crashes result in 5.2 million injuries, 250,000 of which are life threatening. For those seriously injured, the minutes just after the crash are critical. ERMMS significantly enhances the potential of the 9-1-1 system and supports its goal of helping to save lives.

Houston-area police officers may submit personal health data and insurance information to Roadside Telematics Corporation's Road Medic(R) system. If a vehicle crashes, Intrado's IntelliVector EES helps to route the Cross Country contact center with the existing 9-1-1 call center and updates the Road Medic(R) system for delivery of occupant-centric data to the responding EMS.

"Intrado is committed to improving existing public safety systems worldwide. Our partnership with Cross Country and Roadside Telematics Corporation allows us to introduce a safety system that will facilitate faster delivery of crash victim information to emergency personnel," said Dan Hoskins, vice president and general manager of Intrado's Wireless Business Group. "We are extremely pleased to provide this service to the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network. The benefits of this new technology reach beyond emergency medical applications to the automobile industry, insurance companies, providers of travel information and navigation systems -- markets that represent opportunities to help customers reach people and deliver information using both traditional and non-traditional communications."

"In December, Intrado's ACN system was put to the test when one of our officers was in a critical accident. Thanks to our new safety system, the appropriate 9-1-1 call center was notified and informed of the location of the vehicle, and medical help was dispatched within minutes," said John Melcher, deputy director of the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network. "By augmenting the system with detailed medical information for each police officer, we are better able to assist public safety personnel." The project currently involves nearly 500 vehicles from 23 jurisdictions in the surrounding area.

"We are excited to offer this innovative public safety service with Intrado -- the industry leader in the development of wireless 9-1-1 technologies and services. Our collaboration with Intrado enables us to offer our customers the benefits of this new safety and commercial mobile service," said Peter Van Alstine, Cross Country's vice president of product management and marketing.

Interest in telematics technology is growing in the consumer market. Forty-four percent of respondents to a Jupiter Consumer Survey said they would be willing to pay for a telematics service focused on safety and security.
