MapInfo and Business Objects Join Forces - Powerful Location-Enabled Business Intelligence Solution
PHOENIX--Nov. 10, 2003--MapInfo Corporation (Nasdaq: MAPS) today announced that it has entered into a strategic alliance with Business Objects (Nasdaq: BOBJ), the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, to offer enterprise users a comprehensive location-based business intelligence solution. By adding location components to business intelligence software from Business Objects, the integrated solution helps organizations perform expanded analysis of customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain management (SCM) information. MapInfo will be showcasing the integrated solution at booth #301.
As part of this alliance, MapInfo's MapXtreme(R) mapping technology has been integrated with BusinessObjects(TM) InfoView, a business intelligence portal that collects and consolidates a company's BI information and presents it in a secure, focused and personalized view to users inside and outside an organization. The integration will add location analysis to the robust reporting capabilities of BusinessObjects InfoView. Both MapXtreme and InfoView support Java Server Pages, providing users with unparalleled customization capabilities for more distinct business requirements. For example, the United States Department of Justice uses the integrated solution to enhance its business intelligence solution with location analysis, enabling users to locate hidden trends and make more informed decisions.
"Business Objects has built its reputation as the world's leading provider of business intelligence by offering customers comprehensive information analysis solutions that enable users to improve enterprise performance," said Beverly Powell-Goldman, group vice president, strategic alliances, Business Objects. "The integration of MapInfo's industry-leading location intelligence technology with BusinessObjects InfoView enables users to access and analyze all forms of business data based on location, providing added insight to complex business questions."
"A number of current MapInfo customers already utilize Business Objects solutions for their business intelligence needs," said Michael Hickey, COO, MapInfo. "As organizations look to derive more insight from their data, MapInfo's location technology has become an integral component of enterprise applications. MapInfo's alliance with Business Objects will enable users to expand the power of business intelligence solutions by performing critical location analysis on all forms of enterprise data. With MapInfo's location technology, users can more easily visualize relationships between disparate forms of data and make more informed decisions."
