Turbo WAP 2.0 Support with New fg microtec fmM1252
MUNICH, Germany--Nov. 13, 2003--fg microtec (http://www.fgmicrotec.com/), the global supplier of embedded PFC(TM) (predictive flow control) software solutions, announced the immediate availability of fmM1252. This tuning software supports the new WAP 2.0 transport protocol for GPRS phones, enabling handset manufacturers to deploy powerful optimised video, picture and audio computing platforms. The fmM1252 can be integrated into any handset design and delivers best available quality performance with reduced transmission times under any GPRS network condition.
The introduction of WAP 2.0 as the new wireless transport protocol for small mobile devices is taking mobile data services to the next level and making real wireless internet come true. This next generation standard contains two significant new components - the mark-up language XHTML and, most importantly, wireless TCP and HTTP. The latter provides optimised versions of the Internet TCP and HTTP protocols for more efficient delivery of content over wireless networks.
fg microtec's new fmM1252 is capable of tuning both transport protocols - WAP and wireless TCP - to achieve higher throughput rates by predicting network behaviour to determine best transmission parameters dynamically under any network condition. Whether the GPRS network is empty or busy, whether the user is moving between cells, whether he or she is moving fast or is stationary - the fmM1252 will predict the effects on the network and adapt the WAP or wireless TCP protocols dynamically in order to optimize data throughput.
By eliminating the chance element and increasing the reliability and quality of service for mobile data transmissions, the fmM1252 considerably enhances user experience and helps drive the adoption of new wireless data services. High quality MMS pictures with 300KByte data sizes, colourful MPEG video clips, MP3 music files can all be transmitted in the best possible way due to fg microtec's predictive technology.
"One of the most important aspects for the widespread acceptance of new mobile data services is user experience. By implementing the predictive fmM1252 tuning software in today's GPRS phones device manufacturers and network operators can offer users unparalleled quality of service," said Ramin Mirbaha, Managing Director at fg microtec.
