DaimlerChrysler uses message master(tm)
14-November-2003 -- Derdack, leading supplier of software for mobile data communication, recently deployed its product message master(tm) xsp as the central mobile messaging gateway for DaimlerChrysler Services FleetBoard GmbH.
Fleetboard is a leading telematics service platform for transport and logistics companies and provides it's customers with a broad range of features including remote access to technical conditions of trucks, truck dispatching, shipment tracking, task assignment and route planning. As a leading telematics services provider Fleetboard is recognized for high reliability and quality of service. The fast and flawless communication between FleetBoard's management center and vehicles is essential for maintaining and strengthening the leading market position.
The communication between FleetBoard's management center and the vehicle's on-board computers is based on SMS (Short Messaging Service) as SMS guarantees seamless coverage of most European regions. And coverage is essential for broad customer acceptance.
Responsible for the seamless communication with currently around 6,000 trucks across Europe, the SMS messaging software is a crucial part of the overall system. With message master(tm) xsp Fleetboard is now based on an internationally deployed and advanced software which proved it's suitability during a test phase of several months. message master(tm) xsp serves as the central interface between various telematics applications and the trucks' board computers. It runs on a Windows 2000 server with remote connection to an IBM DB/2 database system.
