WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
Trilibis' peepsnation(TM) Application available for BREW(TM)-Enabled Phones
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 19 -- Trilibis(TM), the leading provider of Mobile Community Services (MCS) software, today announced its commitment and support for QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW) platform. The Company has developed peepsnation, the industry's first application built on the Trilibis m-Community Engine(TM) (mCE(TM)), for the BREW platform. The application enables users to connect and meet others on their wireless phone with similar interests, values and experiences. Users can seek friends, partners and find potential "peeps" for dating. Trilibis will also develop its future peepsnation community applications for BREW- enabled handsets.
Trilibis has partnered with webdate.com to provide webdate customers with wireless access to the dating community. Members can access their profiles wirelessly, browse, view and send pictures, search for people in a specific area and message or chat with others all on their wireless BREW-enabled phone.
"Trilibis transforms online communities into m-communities, giving members 'anywhere, anytime' access," said Tom Paddon, president and CEO of Trilibis. "This transformation creates new revenue streams for our partners through membership growth and increased member participation."
In addition, becoming an active member of an online community requires a personal commitment and sharing of personal information. Trilibis protects the personal information of community members by mobilizing e-communities, giving members un-tethered access to community content.
"We chose the BREW system first because it got us to market quickly with a standard development platform our partners could trust," said Paddon. "Combined with the functionality, security and full support of communication and content capabilities, developing for the BREW platform was a natural first step that gave us the leadership edge we needed in the emerging MCS market."
"peepsnation provides a new and exciting twist for wireless data services and Trilibis is pioneering this industry segment with its unique content offering," said Mike Yuen, director, BREW Developer Relations, QUALCOMM Internet Services. "QUALCOMM is pleased that Trilibis chose the BREW platform for its applications and we look forward to working with them as they continue to expand into new markets.
peepsnation currently supports the LG VX4400, Motorola T720 and Audiovox CDM 9500 handsets and is compatible with other BREW-enabled phones. peepsnation can be downloaded directly to the handset via Verizon Wireless' Get It Now(SM), ALLTEL's Axcess(SM), and Midwest Wireless' BREW networks. The company will launch additional co-branded communities on the Trilibis mCE engine in the coming months.
QUALCOMM's BREW system provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes application developers, publishers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and consumers.
Publishers and developers worldwide are generating revenue from BREW-based applications and content, and 21 manufacturers have offered more than 100 BREW-enabled device models to consumers. The BREW system is successfully enabling the commercial wireless data services of many very successful operators, including Verizon Wireless, ALLTEL, Cellular One, Midwest Wireless and U.S. Cellular in the United States, China Unicom, KDDI in Japan, KTF in South Korea, Hutch in Thailand, Telstra in Australia, VIVO in Brazil, BellSouth International in Colombia and BellSouth International Panama.
