Troy Announces Printing Adapter with Bluetooth Wireless Technology Co-Developed with HP

SANTA ANA, Calif.--Nov. 21, 2003--TROY Group Inc. (Nasdaq:TROY), a developer of printer connectivity solutions, today announced a printer adapter, co-developed with HP, that incorporates next generation Bluetooth(R) wireless technology. The printer adapter enables printing with a wide range of emerging client devices enabled with Bluetooth wireless technology, such as mobile phones, digital cameras, PDAs, and notebook computers.

Incorporating the recently released Bluetooth Basic Printing Profile (BPP), Basic Imaging Profile (BIP), and xHTML print technology, the printer adapter vastly simplifies the end-user's wireless printing experience by eliminating the need for printer-specific drivers.

"We are proud to have been selected by HP to co-develop this product based on next generation Bluetooth wireless technology," said Harold Yin, executive vice president and general manager of TROY's Wireless and Connectivity Solutions. "Our mutual goal is to enable and proliferate printing using Bluetooth wireless technology. With the number of client devices enabled with Bluetooth wireless technology emerging, we believe that enabling printing from phones, PDAs, cameras, and notebooks using Bluetooth wireless technology to any printer is a key application."

"Providing walk-up-and-print capabilities is an important part of HP's overall strategy to provide solutions to an increasingly mobile workplace," said Don Ciaglo, director of research and development for IPG Connectivity Solutions, HP. "HP selected TROY as its development partner based on their experience in providing printer connectivity solutions and their experience and capabilities in Bluetooth wireless technology."

TROY will release its printer adapter with Bluetooth wireless technology in December. Both companies' products still support printing utilizing legacy profiles such as SPP, OPP and HCRP.
