NewBay FoneBlog Launched in Ireland

Dublin, Ireland – October 2, 2003 – NewBay Software, developers of the world’s first mobile phone blogging system, announced today that its FoneBlog™ service is now available to customers of one of Ireland’s leading mobile operators – O2. FoneBlog allows O2 Ireland customers to simply create and run their own personal web site directly from their mobile phone.

“FoneBlog is an exciting service for camera phone users and a clear way for Mobile Network Operators to increase MMS and data traffic and revenues” said Paddy Holahan, CEO of NewBay Software. “Mobile phone users love having their own website where they can instantly publish their pictures and messages on the internet, viewable by friends, family and internet visitors from both phone and PC browsers.”

FoneBlog is a server based system that integrates to operator messaging, portal and billing systems. Its advanced architecture supports all mobile networks and the full range of multi-media standards and handset capabilities. FoneBlog incorporates a wide range of blog features such as commenting, voting, bookmarks, skin designs and messaging that provide a rich and personalisable service.

NewBay Software offers FoneBlog worldwide to Mobile Network Operators as white label product available under ASP, MSP and software licensing terms. NewBay offers full deployment, integration, design, animation, management and support of FoneBlog to allow for rapid deployment and ongoing promotion. A pilot programme “Go FoneBlog” is available to operators to facilitate private or focus group trials anywhere in the world.

The emergence of faster wireless data networks (such as 3G) and the increasing capabilities of media phones provide mobile operators with a unique opportunity to offer advanced services to subscribers. FoneBlog is set to become a strategic platform to exploit these new technologies in an addictive and fun service.

“Within two years we predict that every mobile operator will offer a phone blogging service, and every mobile user will have a personal, unique website. This will lead to an explosion in user generated content originated from mobile devices and drive unprecedented data traffic over mobile networks,” added Paddy Holahan.
