Plum Voice Portals Selects Cepstral TTS for Plum VoiceXML IVR
NEW YORK--Oct. 1, 2003--Plum Voice Portals, provider of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and computer telephony solutions, announced today the selection of Cepstral Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology as an additional plug-in for the Plum VoiceXML IVR platform.
Plum VoiceXML IVR solutions include enterprise-class software and hardware for automated telephony applications. Plum caters to IT departments that seek revolutionary price/performance, and the Cepstral partnership enhances this strategy. The Cepstral text-to-speech (TTS) engine "delivers excellent performance and voice clarity at an affordable price point," said Andrew Kuan, CTO of Plum. Cepstral technology will be bundled with the Plum developer platform, a 4-port system including ASR and TTS priced at $3995. Cepstral TTS will be offered as an option on larger Plum systems and as an option with Plum platform software for call centers.
Cepstral and Plum will also offer enterprise customers the ability to order customized TTS voices. "Cepstral can tune voices for a particular domain to achieve very high quality or build a unique voice based on a specific voice talent," said Jaime A. Smith, CEO of Cepstral. All text-to-speech voices can be employed in conjunction with traditional recorded audio files. Audio files are best suited for repetitive messages, while text-to-speech engines can take any text and convert it dynamically into spoken audio.
