iANYWHERE AND INTEL FUEL MOBILIZED APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - CTIA WIRELESS I.T. - October 20, 2003 - iAnywhere Solutions Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), and Intel Corporation today announced plans to further the development of mobilized software for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The companies unveiled a toolkit that will enable software developers to deliver applications for SMB mobile computing and Wi-Fi users. Each kit will include iAnywhereÒ market-leading mobile enterprise software, an Intel® Centrino(tm) mobile technology-based mobile PC, an Intel XScale® technology-based handheld, and a wireless LAN access point.

Mobile and wireless computing is proliferating at a rapid pace, creating a need for software applications to be available virtually anytime, anywhere - even where network connections are not always consistent. Through the Mobilized Software Initiative, Intel is providing tools, architectural guidelines, Web-based resources and developer programs to make it easier for software developers to design software for mobility. Known among developers as a pioneer of always-available computing, iAnywhere shares a common vision with Intel to extend the benefits of enterprise solutions to mobile and wireless users of PDAs, tablets and notebook PCs.

"Wireless connectivity has revolutionized mobile computing, enabling users to compute and communicate when and where they want," said Don MacDonald, director of marketing, Intel Mobile Platforms Group. "With Intel Centrino mobile technology, Intel XScale technology, and iAnywhere's market-leading mobile database and middleware software, developers can address the challenges of mobile computing and capitalize on the Wi-Fi trend by building mobilized solutions designed specifically with wireless in mind."

"iAnywhere technology is already trusted by thousands of developers to power enterprise applications for SMB environments," said Jan Jaworsky, senior director of marketing at iAnywhere Solutions. "The Wi-Fi Toolkit will empower a broader set of developers with an established, easy way to extend the reach of their applications beyond the office walls and traditional wired desktop."

"We rely on iAnywhere software to power our Moment of Care Information Systems, which provides medical workers with mobile access to patient information, lab work, X-rays and other test results using both wireless and wired networks," said Dr. Huy Nguyen, CEO of Cogon Systems. "Using Intel hardware and iAnywhere software played a critical role in helping us cut our development time and deploy a superior wireless application."

- Handheld device - an HP iPAQ* H5550 handheld device based on Intel XScale technology to facilitate application testing. Intel XScale technology is designed to optimize low power consumption and high performance processing for a wide range of wireless and networking applications and rich services.
- Wi-Fi access point - a Cisco Aironet* 1200 series 802.11b LAN access point and a Cisco 2.2 dbi dipole antenna to enable live development and testing of the mobile solution in a Wi-Fi environment.

Availability
The Wi-Fi Toolkit is available immediately from iAnywhere's channel partners. Product, services and purchasing information can be found online at www.ianywhere.com/wi-fi_toolkit and by calling 1-800-801-2069 or 1-519-883-6898.

Wi-Fi Jump Start Services
Wi-Fi Toolkit customers may also contact iAnywhere for specialized Wi-Fi professional services assistance, including the Wi-Fi Jump Start program.
This two-day interactive session, led by an iAnywhere architect, includes a Wi-Fi technology overview and a review of key architectural and development considerations for successfully building and deploying Wi-Fi solutions. The offering also includes installation and configuration of the Wi-Fi Toolkit components as well as demonstration of a working solution.

Always Available Computing
Intel's Mobilized Software Initiative applies architectural concepts similar to offline-networked messaging to a broader range of applications. This allows many more solutions to be used productively, regardless of the status of the network connection. With more than a decade of experience in mobile computing, iAnywhere also focuses on delivering "always available" enterprise information through offline, wired and wireless access. iAnywhere and Intel are working together to apply these concepts in four categories:
- Offline data management - To provide a consistent user experience allowing business users to continue working and be productive even when disconnected.
- Seamless connectivity - To dynamically manage changes in network connection types, providing the optimal connection without requiring user intervention.
- Multiple platforms - To allow applications using standards like XML to run on virtually any operating environment.
- Power and performance management - To conserve battery life and deliver optimal computation and I/O performance without the need for power cords or network cables.
