TCL Selects Wavecom's Compact Phones Development Lab for New Projects
Wavecom SA (WVCM)(AVM.EU)(WAVC.LN)-- Wavecom SA (Nasdaq:WVCM)(Euronext:AVM)(ISIN:FR0000073066) has been selected by TCL Mobile Communication to supply its Compact Phones Development Lab solution for use in several of TCL's new handset projects. Building on four years of shared success, a newly signed contract reinforces Wavecom's position as a preferred technology supplier to TCL.
For three of its new handsets, including a slim-phone (a very slim clamshell telephone) and two camera telephones, TCL has selected the quadband hardware platform WISMO Pac P5186, introduced earlier this year. In addition, TCL will use Wavecom's latest hardware platform, the WISMO Flex, for three new high-end multimedia telephones, scheduled to be launched mid-2004. All new products planned will target both local and international markets, in order to achieve the economies of scale which are essential to volume businesses like mobile telephones.
TCL has also selected multiple software suites from the Compact Phones Development Lab, in order to integrate features such as touch screens, cameras, polyphonic ring tones, WAP, MMS and Java(TM) applications. For all the projects, TCL will benefit from an extensive range of services, including support for product design, manufacturing, validation and certification.
